Hydration: Refreshed by the Word of God not the world

Image
Are you staying hydrated? Physical, mentally, and spiritually? You’re probably sitting there thinking “Ugh! Are you gonna do another talk about drinking more water? I’ve been hearing that a lot.” Well, you’ve come to the right place then! Staying hydrated takes a lot of effort and time but it is so worth it! Recently I’ve been hearing more and more of these terms because both of my siblings have been having either kidney stones or kidney issues which is caused by dehydration. Although I have been the best one at drinking lots of water, I am still no where near perfect so I have been drinking even more water. Same thing goes spiritually though. I grew up going to church but never got taught how to read my Bible or when to. It’s when I got saved back five years ago that I started to shake the dust off again and start reading it more often. I still wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t until college that I finally started to realize that I needed to be refreshed by the Word of God, NOT the world. ...

Spiritual Fitness: Working Out with God, NOT with Satan

Image
Have you ever decided that you weren't going to work out or go to the gym that morning and continue to procrastinate because you were "too tired"? Well, we all have those days with spiritual fitness too. It's like a muscle if you don't continue to train your mental body to read your Bible every day and pray, it will deteriorate. I think we all have those days. I know I do. It feels like I've been having them pretty recently but then I get several days where I actually do engage in His Word and pray every day. I also get several days where I don't feel like working out my physical body because I'm simply "too tired" to work out. You're probably thinking, "But you're an Exercise Science major, how could you possibly get 'too tired' to workout?" I say, "Well, it happens, even in the Exercise Science and fitness world". We get several so-called "workout highs" and then get some "workout lows...

HIIT It!

Image
That's right, HIIT it! Well, not really. Only when exercising should you HIIT it (your body should HIIT it when exercising), but what I really mean when I say HIIT it, I mean High-Intensity Interval Training. Now, I know most of you are saying, "What is High-Intensity Interval Training?" and "Why use it?". Well, those are some good questions that are about to be answered. High-Intensity Interval Training is a very intense type of exercise that is used to be effective at burning off calories in a short amount of time, burning fat, building muscle, increasing metabolism, helping lose weight, and helping to improve cardiovascular fitness. It even burns calories up to 2 hours after this workout has been completed. Pretty cool, huh? And if you're looking at doing one of these exercises right now, here are some examples: -Russian Twists -Jumping Jacks -Wall Sits -Push-Ups -Crunches -Chair Step-Ups -Squats -Tricep Dips -Planks -High Knees Running in Place -Lunges -...

Image
Hi, fellow healthy eaters! I know you are going to think, "You are going to tell us to eat just fruits and vegetables when we get hungry". While this is true, I do not believe that you should just eat fruits and vegetables when you are hungry. There are many varieties of snacks that are healthy that you can eat when you get hungry, but not everyone will be able to eat them due to allergies and dislike in taste. Just remember, with anything you eat, eat in moderation (i.e. portion control). Below are some examples of healthy snacks to eat when your stomach says that you are hungry: Nuts (i.e. almonds, cashews, pistachios, pecans, walnuts, etc.) Yogurt (preferably plain Greek but if not then lightly sweetened vanilla) Fruits (Yes, fruits. i.e. strawberries, grapes, pineapple, banana, etc.) Vegetables (And vegetables. i.e. tomatoes, carrots, celery, broccoli, etc.) Vegetables with nut butter (i.e. celery with peanut butter, broccoli with almond butter, etc.) Fruit with yogurt (i...
