Spiritual Fitness: Working Out with God, NOT with Satan

Have you ever decided that you weren't going to work out or go to the gym that morning and continue to procrastinate because you were "too tired"? Well, we all have those days with spiritual fitness too. It's like a muscle if you don't continue to train your mental body to read your Bible every day and pray, it will deteriorate. I think we all have those days. I know I do. It feels like I've been having them pretty recently but then I get several days where I actually do engage in His Word and pray every day. I also get several days where I don't feel like working out my physical body because I'm simply "too tired" to work out. You're probably thinking, "But you're an Exercise Science major, how could you possibly get 'too tired' to workout?" I say, "Well, it happens, even in the Exercise Science and fitness world". We get several so-called "workout highs" and then get some "workout lows". It happens because that's what we do as humans. We work out so hard so long to the point where our body can't function and it starts to get tired and worn out. But if we pace ourselves to the point where we do some physical fitness here and some physical fitness there, we can still take breaks and not be so worn out or tired and have the excuse of "I'm too tired to work out today". The same thing goes with our spiritual fitness because even as Christians we work so hard and so long that we get tired and worn out, but if we pace ourselves so that we read our Bibles and pray here and then read our Bibles and pray there, we won't be so worn out and tired. Sometimes we feel like our spiritual and physical fitness journeys are tiresome (like the cartoon above), but it's well worth the journey. Although spiritual fitness is separate from physical fitness, they are both used in the same way. Without one, you don't have the other. So, the next time you decide, "Well, I'm 'too tired' to workout today and I'm 'too tired' to read my Bible", just remember that "Losers quit when they're tired, but winners quit when they've won".

P.S. Sorry, it's been so long since I have posted a blog. With school, graduation, work, and continuing to work on my strength with God, physically and mentally, I haven't had much time to post a faith/fitness blog. But with His help and His guidance, I have felt the need to post one. Hope y'all enjoy this blog! (This blog will be part of something I'm looking to do in the future so be on the lookout for information about it!) And be on the lookout for more faith and fitness content!

Just remember that we are all fit4Him! Enjoy the journey, eat healthy, get fit!

xoxo
